CELL GROUPS

PLUG IN AND POWER UP!

Get Plugged In

It is our desire to see MCC grow smaller as we grow larger by continually getting newcomers plugged in with small groups of believers in what we call "cells," It is in these cells that lasting friendships are developed-this is where you will truly experience the "community" aspect of Mainland Community Church.

".... You are a member of God's very own family..and you belong in God's household with every other Christian." Ephesians 2:19

“For where two or three have gathered together in my name, I am there in their midst” Matthew 18:20

A place where everybody knows your name!

At Mainland Community Church we believe our church must grow both larger and smaller at the same time. That is, as we continue to reach out to people with the exciting message about Jesus Christ, more and more people will join us and our church will grow. Yet at the same time, we want to grow smaller too! We want to provide the opportunity for people to get to know one another in close, personal relationships. That's why MCC has dozens of cell groups. We want you to feel welcome and accepted, and our cell groups are an important way for that to happen. The only requirement for being in a cell groups is the desire to make new friends. The MCC family is a friendly place and we encourage everyone to find a place to feel connected and to belong. The friendships you will build will be instrumental in your spiritual grown and progress. Big things happen in small groups.

Most Importantly...

We hope that you feel accepted and loved in a cell groups. Feel free to attend as many different cell groups as you like until you find the one that is right for you. The most important thing is not which cell group you're a part of, but that you are a part of one.

If you have any questions, we would love to get together and discuss them with you, so let us know. Please don't hesitate to call us. Click the Cell Group Schedule for a list of Cell Groups along with the day, time and email addresses of the cell group leaders. We'd be delighted to get an email from You!

What is a Cell Group?

A cell group, as with any church, is a collection of Christians who join together to form a "body". In the New Testament, Paul describes the Christian church at large as the body of Christ on earth. He goes on to say that just as every part of a human body needs every other part, every member of Christ's body needs every other member.

God Also instructs us in His Word to:

"love one another",

"accept one another",

"serve one another in love",

"bear each other's burdens",

"build each other up, and to

"pray for each other".

We believe the best way to carry out God's instruction is to join together in a smaller group setting than our Sunday Celebration gatherings to help each other deal with the struggles and challenges of life and to grow deeper in our relationship with God. Since we all need each other, if you are not a member of a cell group yet, there is a cell group that is missing you!

WHY IS BEING IN A CELL GROUP SO IMPORTANT?

God does not intend for us to live life alone. That's why we join together and commit to each other. The members of each cell group have made a commitment to encourage and support one another.

Our vision is to build a growing network of cell groups to connect more and more people in caring Christian relationships. To accomplish this, we have to be open, honest and transparent with each other to share our needs and struggles. This goes counter to our North American culture today as everyone seems to be trying to impress each other with our perfection. Since we all have problems in our lives, we can afford to be honest with each other. Of course this requires trusting each other, and trust is built as we get to know each other and develop relationships. That's why we get together each week.

WHAT HAPPENS AT THESE MEETINGS?

Basically, we do everything in our cell group meetings that we do in our celebration services but in a more intimate, informal setting where we are free to be ourselves.

The primary emphasis of each meeting is to build relationships so that we can learn to "Love God and Love Each Other" as God commands us to do. This is accomplished through activities such as "ice breakers", sharing, prayer, worship, Bible reading and discussion.
